LABIS, Jan 27 — A group of independent bloggers today offered to organise a debate between the candidates of the Tenang by-election — Mohd Azahar Ibrahim (BN) and Normala Sudirman (PAS).
The group, which called themselves “Kumpulan Blogger-Blogger Independent” (Kubid), proposed that the debate be held to discuss and clarify issues related to the area.
A Kubid representative, Sariffuddin Abdullah, said the debate session would allow voters to find out and evaluate each candidate’s efforts and direction.
“Our hope is to see ‘knowledge politics’ being practiced in the nation’s political arena, where open discussions and debates are encouraged to promote transparency among candidates,” he told a news conference here today.
He said, based on Kubid’s survey during the campaign so far, both candidates leaned towards campaigns which were “populist and cosmetics” in nature aimed at distracting voters from real the issues in Tenang.
“Where is their credibility if their campaigns mostly attack one another? What happened to ethics and morals?” he said. — Bernama
